So yeah, I realize I’m about to post about a show on Nickelodeon whose target demo is probably 20 or more years younger than I am, so I suppose I should start at the beginning with this one. I first heard about the kid’s show/acid-fueled-visual-head-trip Yo Gabba Gabba! a while back when my boy Joel McHale kept showcasing clips from the show on The Soup.  One clip in particular caught my eye. Verdict at this point – this show has to be kinda awesome, or batshit crazy. Maybe both. Observe:

As the months went by I kept hearing rumblings about different indie groups appearing on the show to tout their musical abilities for the children (ODB would be so proud!).  A quick trip to the digital highway and I learned that musical guests on the show have included The Ting Tings, MGMT, Biz Markie, The Roots, The Shins and Jimmy Eat World. Whaaat!  Verdict now – this show is definitely awesome, and I know Bootsy agrees with me. I not gonna lie, if I had kids I would fo’ sho’ make them watch this show. Sheeeeit, I might even fire up a couple episodes sans-kids just to get my jam on.  Just kidding. Not really.

Where am I going with this? Well a few days ago I received a colorful email in my inbox (not colorful as in ‘contained a lot of swear words’, though that would be hilariously amazing for a kids show promo) informing me that Filter is getting ready to release the first Yo Gabba Gabba! album on October 20th. In between cuts from the show’s characters are tracks from some of the aforementioned artistes, though sadly it appears that the boys from MGMT are nowhere to be seen.  Full tracklist is below, as well as some videos featuring a there’s-no-way-he’s-not-blazed-right-now Biz Markie and a super low-quality MGMT clip (titled ‘Russian Rugrats’ on Youtube for some odd reason) that could easily be the video for their next single.  Now go get Yo Gabba on!
