John, its not like we are going to forget about that “Body is a Wonderland” non-sense that got you here. Its just now we don’t really know what to think about your new look and your new song about you thinking you might want to get high. We doubt that you actually inhaled, but that’s beside the point.
Have I been ignoring pop-culture too long to notice this transformation or is Mayer finally rich enough to abandon his “nice-guy” image? Either way, the sleeve gets my approval and I am all for him completely changing the theme of his song writing from “I wanna run through the halls of my high school and hug people” to “Who says I can’t get stoned?”
The man knows how to pluck the strings, I will say that, and maybe he just needed to get a new target audience. Luckily for him, teeny boppers won’t miss him one bit, they have those Jonas boys and Hannah from Montana.
Sure, John’s new hit single off his upcoming album, Battle Studies, sounds pretty much like any other J. Mayer song, but at least for once he sings about something other than cushy love or daughters being good mothers to fathers. Whatever.
One thing not expect – any sort of drug paraphernalia in the music video. Couldn’t even find so much as a joint – Columbia has this boy on lock down. Bottom line, John Mayer probably still sucks, but Ben Harper can sing about burning one down any old time.

this is weird
Holy shit, John Mayer is on the Muffin. Live Harper track evens things out though – nice move.
This post made me LOL. Thanks for keeping us on the pulse of the Mayer, B.
One of these things is not like the other…
looking forward to part 2
Hey Brendan, its your boy Brendan. Anyway, classic commentary on Jon M. He’s still of questionable credibility if you ask me. Peace.
i like that song
john mayer is amazing, the song isnt about getting stoned its about being free too do anything you want too do regardless if someone says you can or not, maybe you should read his playboy interview and learn more about him instead of being a no nothing hater
