As the boys from WR make their way west from Phoenix (escaping Sydney C haha) I sit in utter anticipation of this weekend and my extreme fortune that White Rabbits decided to grace my fine city (of San Diego), not by their lonesome, but in the company of a few bands you may have heard of; Vampire Weekend, Phoenix and uh, yeah, Spoon, I wanted to speak a bit about the band amongst four that you may know the least about. Following an easterly migration, what started as a collective of Mizzou Tigers, soon became the White Rabbits of Brooklyn. As a talented six-piece, fans and critics alike were swooned by their freshman 2007 album, Fort Nightly.
When “Percussion Gun” was first released this year, I remember hearing it on KCRW and almost driving my car into a ditch while banging along to the drum beat. The band has spent the better part of this fall playing shows all over the world with bands that have received big love from The Muffin (Local Natives, Band of Skulls, Spoon, Vampire Weekend and Phoenix).
Following their sophomore album release back in May entitled, Its Frightening, the band has been on the receiving end of some very well deserved press and fan base growth. I look forward to see to what level they will be able to perform and captivate the audience when they are essentially an opening act for three major indie-headliners over the next couple weeks. They will definitely get a ton of support from Britt Daniel of Spoon as he produced their 2009 album.

White Rabbits combined their eclectic musical backgrounds with their unique styles and various influences to form a band that will continue to produce very intriguing albums and after seeing them on Letterman, enthralling live performances. Enjoy these tracks fresh from the bakery and if you can find tickets, try and catch these guys live soon!

I’m going to the show this weekend! Can’t wait!
I love the dueling Rabbits articles.
And I haven’t been commenting because I’m cheating and reading everyone’s article before they are published, hehe.
