Walter MeegoDo you ever wonder what they will call the type of music you listen to now - in say 30 years? Or rather, what was the element in the music that defined this decade. It seems really obvious when you look to the past what the popular music style was that dominated popular music. But I’m always at a lose when trying to figure out what movement we are currently in.

I always thought if I could jump in my DeLorean and punch it up to 88 I would simply grab a handful of albums from each decade and then come back. And just between the two of us; I’ve also imagined myself taking the most popular songs from the future and then recording them as my own before the bands of the future could think of them. And then I would have the most successful album of all time. But then I always figure I’d be stumbling out of an awards show to my limo and trip over a guy asking for change. I would turn around and realize that the beggar on the street corner is the singer on the cover of the best selling album of 2035. It’s that fear that keeps my time machine plans to just plans (cause they’re totally legit).

The music of the current movement might be the infusion of traditionally electronic music into rock n’ roll. Or at least that is how I see it. I know that this has been going on for a long time - but it now seems to be taking a majority position.

In that stem of progress we have Walter Meego. A duo that blends electronic sounds and vocoders with an indie style. These guys are from Chicago - which is a true testimant to the electronic infusion that clearly holds most of its power in Europe.

Both songs I’m posting are rad - but take particular notice to the first one (thank you Beastie Boys). Oh, and I guess not to be outdone the second song is called Tomorrowland (thank you Walt Disney).
