My good buddy Jimmy Callahan recently sent me a link to some NPR SXSW coverage. It was a little semi-unknown (at least here in the states) band out of London called Vadoinmessico. I was only able to use the internet to scrape up the very limited info I could about this band, and as such I have no frickin’ idea how you pronounce that. If there are any linguists out there please help me out.
Their sound? Think Born Ruffians or maybe a stripped down and catchier Arctic Monkeys.
Beyond their stint at SXSW it appears the guys from Vadoinmessico stay close to home playing small clubs in and around London. Which is a shame, because they look like a really fun act to watch live (I guess not so much a shame if you live in the UK).
Immediately after hearing their song In Spain I was hooked and wanted to hear as much of this as I could. Sadly, I was only able to dig up a few tracks on their RCRD LBL account, plus an additional tune on their MySpace. I know it seems a pity to waste an article on a band so early in their infancy and with so little info, but I think we’ll be hearing really big things from them someday soon – and plus In Spain is VERY worthy of a mix cd.
Here is the video that got its hooks in me, and below are a couple great tracks they’ve let slip out to the internet.
