Traveling is addictive. There are so many amazing things to see in this world. One of the things I absolutely love the most about traveling is riding on a train in a foreign country and seeing sites and landscapes you have never seen before, face pressed to the window as if you are seeing the world for the first time. Sitting amongst people who come from an entirely different culture and historical background, feeling like a complete outsider looking in, all while finding the perfect songs on your iPod that somehow make what you are seeing and experiencing much more meaningful. Depending on where you are in the world and what lies before you, different music can have profound impacts on your perceptions. I guess it is sort of cliche, like songs that make you feel a certain way about a certain someone, but i could easily recite to you the handful of musicians that provided the audio heartbeat for my drive from Sydney to the Great Barrier Reef five years ago.

The Tallest Man On Earth – King Of Spain

After having just returned from traveling China, several new musicians, genres and songs in particular made similar profound impressions on my travels and sensory experiences. One such artist and the eventual point of this post, was The Tallest Man On Earth. I have been a fan since early 2009, following Kristian Mattson’s first full length release Shallow Grave in 2008. My admiration for this Swedish singer/songwriter of the folk rock realm was recently invigorated with his most recent full length release, The Wild Hunt. An album full of stories and meaning.

A perfect album to play while seeing the world.

The Tallest Man On Earth – Troubles Will Be Gone

The songs on this album conjured up relevant tales of adventure, unique encounters and life defining experiences of my recent travels, so I would encourage you to not only pick up The Tallest Man On Earth’s most recent album, The Wild Hunt, but make sure the next time you are traveling, incorporate the power of music to heighten your experiences. Peace.

Pretended I was a tourist and took in this album as I wandered the streets of NYC the other day. Not the same as exploring China, but nonetheless it made for a nice little jaunt around the city.
