The Audio Muffin prides itself on presenting eclectic music from ranging genres and as summer approaches and those of us in California are lucky enough to start logging some serious beach time, whats better than a few new Reggae options? These three Reggae bands/artists have been working hard on my iPod:

1. Gentleman - a worldly reggae star from Germany who currently resides in Cologne, but finds a second home in the heartland of Jamaica. Tilmann Otto (Gentleman) has been around since the late 90’s producing reggae jams that have caught ear in Europe, Jamaica and the US most notably, but undoubtedly around the globe. Currently, Gentleman is working with the German indie label Four Music. Get Gentleman music!!

2. Morgan Heritage - a reggae band that is not new to the game at all as they have been around pumping out albums since the mid-90’s. This iconic family band, comprised of the children of legendary reggae artist Denroy Morgan, are pushing reggae in new directions and much like Steel Pulse, continuing to drop amazing albums. Morgan Heritage finds home between St. Thomas, Jamaica and Brooklyn, NY which has an apparent influence on their musical styles. Get Morgan Heritage music!! **They just dropped their new album, Mission In Progress today*

Morgan Heritage - Ready Or Not

Morgan Heritage - Nice Up U Medi (One Spliff)

3. Groundation - Though there may be limited reggae roots up north in Sonoma, CA - an amazing reggae band, Groundation, with their big instrumental entourage, put the norcal reggae scene on the map. I have caught them live a couple times, most recently in Solana Beach, CA at their Bob Marley Tribute Show. They have been producing albums on their own record label, Young Tree Records, since the late 90’s and have blended a jazzy vibe into their reggae music which characterizes their uniqueness.

Groundation - Music is the Most High

Groundation - Undivided
