Everytime you put your iPod on shuffle, three things are guaranteed to occur. First Guarantee, and unfortunate as it may be, a song will come onWhite Williams that will force you to question what the hell was wrong with you when that song made its way into your itunes (example for myself - New Found Glory “All Downhill From Here”). Don’t laugh, I know you have some shit on yours too. I always wonder “why is that song on my itunes and even more pertinent, why won’t I delete it?” Second Guarantee, a song will come on that no matter how many times you hear it, it will never get old and yet you never seem to play it by choice (example for me - Radiohead “Karma Police”). Finally, the Third Guarantee possibility, which has led me to create this post, is my favorite occurance. This is when a band comes on that you may have put into your itunes in the past couple years off a recommendation or based on something you read, but really forgot to listen to them when they were fresh in your mind. Now, with the shuffle approach, you are able to get excited about them all over again and finally find their songs amongst the clutter that fills more that 30GB of your iPod. This happened to me two days ago and here are two gems that re-entered my world:

White Williams is the brainchild of musician Joe Williams who hails from Cleveland. With the release of their first album in November of 2006 entitled Smoke, the group has been noted for their electro-pop diddies with a pleasant blend of instrumentals. Tiger Beat6, the band’s label, describes their music brilliantly as “polished, familiar and addictive like the sound of sex in a futuristic hospital, Smoke portends a time where energy-drinking teenagers undress each other with night-vision goggles.” Basically took the words right out of my mouth.

Tapes N’ Tapes makes rythmic, punk, dance music that knocks my socks off (usaTapes N Tapesge?). These guys have been making tasty tunes since the early 2000’s when robotic beings ruled the world. Signed with a little label called XL Recordings and basically have just been kicking ass since. Might have seen em on Letterman, might have experienced them at Coachella or you may be wondering who the f are these guys and if thats the case, then here’s what you need to do. Get in your car, drive to a record store, and buy Walk it Off their 2008 release. You will then want to send me money for helping you, but I ask that you save that money and simply keep reading the Muffin.

Enjoy my shuffle guaranteed result Number 3.

White Williams - The Shadow

White Williams - New Violence

Tapes N’ Tapes - Hang Them All

Leave a comment with the first three songs that come up when you shuffle your iPod, be honest!!
