ThumpThumpThump… here’s what happened. I sat down listening to and ready to write about the new Ra Ra Riot album. That’s when I found out they were playing here in Phoenix next month. That lead me to one of their opening acts and I took a peak at what they had to offer. I found a gem. The Morning Benders. Oddly, I heard about this band a couple months back, took a quick listen, and made a ripe dismissal. I was off is all I can say. The quartet is from the Bay Area and the album titled Talking Through Tin Cans came out in early summer. By the way, that Ra Ra Riot album mentioned earlier is also worth a check out if you get a chance (song beloooow).

The Benders first tour operated under The Kooks and created immediate buzz for the band. I am told this is because they kick ass live. Now, they are touring again this fall and their sound is perfect for the melancholy that comes along with the end of summer. Even the name of the band times out well with Labor Day weekend. Shiiiiit, when is the next holiday? Columbus Day? That arsehole? Concordia Discors?
