Train: Weeeeeeeee’re baaaaack. After hitting the bakery with a combo Jigga post way back when, B and I thought we’d get our collabo on again to drop some (more) knowledge on our boy Theophilus London…

Train: Theophilus first got the attention of the bakery back in February when we fortuitously stumbled upon some of his previous mixtapes.  The genre-bending emcee/crooner/fashionista from BK had everyone head-nodding and speaker-blasting with his curious blend of electronica, pop and hip-hop – affectionately dubbed by yours truly as hippoparonica (somehow that failed to catch on).  I had a chance to check out Mr. London in the city when he played a set at the American Museum of Natural History a little while back. A concert a museum you say? Don’t worry, we didn’t have to write essays about it or anything (even though that’s kinda what I’m doing right now I suppose) – the museum’s Center for Earth and Space served as the backdrop to the concert and it was truly out of this world (see what I did there?).  Don’t pass up a chance to see TL in action, his energy was infectious and electric…I’m pretty sure I spilled my beer over some moonrocks when ‘Humdrum Town’ came on, but shhhhhh, don’t tell anyone.

Well, as the title so aptly says, Theophilus has struck again, and this time with his new (free!) mixtape, I Want You.  Theo’s wide array of influences are prominently on display here as he weaves verses through the sounds of Marvin Gaye, Vampire Weekend, Tweet and more….but I’m gonna step back and let B hit you with some more hot info…

B: Without Theophilus even knowing it, we share what I consider to be a very strong bond. As delivered and exchanged amongst what could have been as many as three messengers and/or couriers, TL and myself were appropriated the same backstage pass for Coachella for at least one day. Sorry I couldn’t keep it a little looser for you big guy, security had their eyes on me.

We, the residents of the musical bakery so aptly named Audio Muffin, have been following Theophilus readily waiting for anything he would throw our way. He just smiled, got all generous, and gifted us with this new mixtape which is an un-evictable squatter on our iPods and we would like to express our gratitude for his benevolent act by showing you just how to get it too.
