Holy boat shoes Batman(glij)!

Train my man, why the excitement? It may have a little something to do with a recent announcement by Vampire Weekend regarding their sophomore album, Contra. Due out on 1/12/10 (so far away!) via XL, the news has already got the blogs a-buzzin’ and will be sure to create deafening levels of hype for the release, the likes of which haven’t been seen since….well, the first VW album.  Studio sessions are again going to be produced by VW keys man, Mr. Rostam Batmanlij (fresh from his soundtrack-to-the-summer Discovery project), and according to Ezra the album is “definitely going to be a recognizably Vampire Weekend sound, but there are going to be new sounds. We’re trying to challenge ourselves not to use the same bag of tricks that we used on the first album — different instruments, stuff like that.” (EW)  Sounds like a plan to me amigos.
