Kooks by the shoreApril 15th is Tax Day for those of us living in the land of the free. The Kooks are British, but that didn’t stop them from putting out their new album on a day when us Americans are in need of a catchy, up-beat song.

The Kooks last album has been a favorite of mine. It’s harmless, catchy, and floats through your speakers like a nice summer breeze. The Kooks are like that soft wind on a really hot day that you have to go down to the beach to find.

Their newest album stays true to the formula; light and fun. According to sterogum, the first single is going to be Tick of Time. Which is the last track on the album (I know, there is a secret track after it). And being the last track on the album it begins with the band laughing and asking if they are recording; and let’s be honest that never gets old. They then begin the song, which is truly one of their best songs. A nice and mellow acoustic track that you can see being recorded on a whim around some camp fire.

I’m going to post a couple of songs from the guts of the album though, the first, Gap, is classic Kooks. In fact, if you are a fan of the first album you may be scratching your head for a second wondering if this was on Inside In/Inside Out.

The second track has a really timeless chorus, a little venture from the quirkiness of the first album, but once again - good stuff.

Please buy the album and I hope you enjoy the tracks! Oh yeah, the album is called Konk. How F’ing cool is that!?!?
