So one of my favorite bands somehow slipped an album release by me earlier this year. How could this possibly happen to me? Well, one of my favorite bands typically only releases their new albums in their native Australia. And their 2007 was no exception, flying way under the radar.

I first heard about this band years ago because they went on tour with Mason Jennings in the US. They must have enjoyed each others company because they recorded a song together, Freedom Pt. 2. And it was because of this song that I found out about The Beautiful Girls.

Their first album was very mellow mostly acoustic modern surf/reggae music. One of my favorite genres is this Modern Acoustic Surf Music (see Jack Johnson and all the people he hangs out with). Their first album also included a song called La Mar that if someone were to ask me my favorite song of all time, I would probably mention that song.

But here we are years later, and they’ve got a new album that practically no one in the US will ever hear, and damnit if the hype machine would stop hating on our blog maybe we could throw some exposure on this amazing band. But at least you are here faithful visitor, and you will now be rewarded. Here are a couple tracks off their new album.
