Sleigh Bells LiveI think when everybody heard the first single Tell ‘Em (aside from Ring Ring) we were all wondering if the forthcoming Sleigh Bells album would be a non-stop romp into face smashing tunes. Well, the answer is yes, God yes.

The rest of the album delivers on that promise of noisy, hard-hitting, tunes. Each song drags you into distorted loop hell. With, of course, the sweet poppy vocals of Alexis Krauss to make you wonder what sort of mash-up music you’ve stumbled upon. The other half of Sleigh Bells is Derek E. Miller, whose last band is described as “Hardcore”. You can clearly hear the maniacal, throat slashing, style Miller has cultivated to create the sound for Sleigh Bells. And although the music pulls influence from noise rock, the loops and chord progressions are tight and organized enough to keep your brain on track.

Half the album’s tracks are under three minutes, with not a single one topping four minutes. They’ve also re-done their initial hype-worthy Ring Ring to make it a bit punchier and clear. The new track has been renamed Rill Rill.

When I first put my headphones on and hit the play button on Treats my office mate exclaimed, “You’re going to go deaf listening to music that loud.” The volume however, had not been turned up. The music is just that forceful.

Aside from the albums theatrics, is the album good? Yes, the album is awesome. And this is definitely in the range of music to throw on as you drive to your next party this weekend.

I haven’t even tried listening to it at work because there’s no way I could play it loud enough.

My favorite is either Kids or Tell ‘Em.

This album is so balls out ridiculous. Not complaining about that either btw.
