This past Tuesday my boy Chopes and I rolled to Terminal 5 here in NYC to go see everybody’s favorite post-punk-electro-dance-rock band, Bloc Party.  Now, before I go any further I must point out that a) I definitely forgot my camera (which explains the pic above) and b) as at every show I ever go to, the five tallest guys in the room decided to head in my direction and proceeded to form a makeshift flying V in front of me.  The wall of dancing behemoths I could deal with, but the lack of camera was regrettable as Kele Okereke took to the stage rocking a full Ari & Uzi red Adidas tracksuit, which he told us he wore because he was going to be our “instructor” for the night. First song of the night was a balls out version of ‘One Month Off’, one of my favorite songs from Intimacy and a great way to set the tone for the rest of the show.  I was actually expecting the setlist to be more Intimacy-skewed, but was pleasantly surprised when the lads busted out an assortment of songs from all three albums.  More surprising was the fact that drummer Matt Tong was actually wearing a shirt, but that only lasted for about four songs. Highlights for me included ‘Signs’, ‘Like Eating Glass’ and ‘Waiting For The 7:18′.  The only song I wanted to hear but didn’t was ‘Uniform’ but they more than made up for that by treating us to not one, but two(!) encores which included ‘Helicopter’ and ‘This Modern Love’. Overall – two thumbs up from your boy Train.

In other Bloc Party news, the band recently announced that they will be releasing Intimacy Remixed on May 11th.  Remix albums are always hit-or-miss with me, but I’ll be keeping an eye out for this one seeing as though Mogwai, We Have Band and No Age are all on board. The lead single, Armand Van Helden’s remix of ‘Signs’ is below, along with another jam to help you get your robo-dance on. Check it:
