Hypnotic. Bear in Heaven summons the sound made famous by Jefferson Airplane’s White Rabbit. They blew my proverbial mind on Monday night, no joke. Don’t get me wrong, Freelance Whales were even better live than on record. Their elongated version of Generation First Floor was killer. Moreover, Cymbals Eat Guitars killed it with And the Hazy Sea. Yet, the best suprise of the night was the show put on by Bear in Heaven. Their music rang out in all directions, I really hadn’t heard anything quite like it live before. They have a new fan. Why they are touring as a three peice rather than their usual four is not clear (as evidence by this video) but to be able to produce that sound with only three was unreal. Their latest album Beast Rest Forth Mouth was released in October 2009 and garnered some really positive reviews. I listed a couple tracks below, check out their live show if you get a chance.
