Okay, much like I heralded 1990s, here is my new favorite thing. MGMT, pronounced “Management” are a crazy and sarcastic couple of guys who met at Wesleyan University in Connecticut. Currently on tour with Yeasayer, they will be playing The Echo on Jan. 26. in support of their just-released debut record, Oracular Spectacular. Produced by Flaming Lips producer Dave Fridmann, it’s synthy, poppy, glam-y, and prog-y. I cannot get enough of the song Time to Pretend. It makes fun of the sex/drugs/rock&roll cliche, and was inspired by their pet praying mantis. Having had pet praying mantis myself, I can totally relate. Please to enjoy.
