I know what you’re thinking, “I thought it was Mulder Zoolander Face Friday?”  Well, I guess you’re right, but I think we can make it a double…just this once.

I was quick to take notice of Miike Snow when their song Animal started to appear around the internet.  But the next step in my Miike Snow journey was somewhat disastrous.

We received a copy of the album here at the Audio Muffin and I took it and popped it into my car’s cd player - which immediately broke.  It was some bad timing, but the motor no longer works, and Mike Snow has been stuck in the car for the last month with not a single listen to its credit.

Part of the reason I haven’t fixed my car and retrieved the album is that I have been traveling lately.  And it was in the LAX airport that I re-discovered Miike Snow in the form of a podcast.  The Morning Becomes Eclectic podcast from June 9th happened to make the cut for some traveling tunes.

In one of their first appearances as a band Jason Bentley asks questions that you’ll be sure to hear repeated in subsequent interviews - making music for Britney Spears and the origin of their band name (Mike Snow turns out to be a real person and its strangely not the informer rapper).  The main substance of the podcast is some live performances of a handful of songs from their album.  Most notably their live performance of Silvia; with a slightly lower tempo arrangement that will make you take notice.

In fact, after hearing these other tracks from the album I HAD to buy it.  Animal really paints a picture of another electro up-tempo European pop band - but once you dig into the album there is really a lot of great substance that you don’t want to sleep on.

And yes, the physical cd is still stuck in my car.  I think there have been a few times in my life where a cd player bit the dust and took a hostage.  The only one I can remember right now is when I was a kid my big clunky wifi system took The Cranberries album away from me.  Oh well, zombie.
