A few months ago, Frank put together a playlist of cover songs. The mix was mostly amusing: folk renditions of Outkast, mashups, etc. However, among these tracks by relatively obscure musicians was an impressive cover of Niko’s “These Days.” I assumed that the song was the fluke work of some non-important artist, but it stood out among the others as an earnest, less ironic endeavor. I loved it.
Later I read an article positioned below the photograph of an impossibly beautiful woman (the very singer of aforementioned cover), and found that she’s played with the likes of Sufjan Stevens, The Polyphonic Spree, and some avant-garde guitar orchestra that I’ve never heard of. The article promoted her debut album which was recently released: Marry Me. She is Annie Clark. She is amazing. Enjoy…
