The Givers are going to be huge! Here are a few reasons why:
1. The blogs that are writing about them are the whos who in cool blogs (including I Guess I’m Floating and The Burning Ear).
2. They have earned comparisons to Vampire Weekend and other bands that ended up blowing your mind when their freshman albums were released.
3. Their tunes have that often hard to describe quality that makes you want to jump around the room and flail your arms in the air.
I thought it was my duty to make sure the Givers made an appearance on the Muffin. With only a five song EP (one song is only a remix) to form a brief introduction; you will be glad you jumped on this band’s wagon early.
The Givers are geniuses in their simplicity. Take their opening track Up, Up, Up. Now most songwriters, when wanting to express elation, would quickly grab at the analogy ‘high’. Think of how many songs just give up on their thesaurus and go with high. “I’m so high.” “Let’s get high.” “Take it higher.”
Yeah, whatever.
I like Up better anyways. It adds to the appeal of jumping around with your arms waving wildly above your head. You are…jumping around right? Oh, you haven’t started the songs? I’ll wait.
Nice right?!?!
I want to go to a dance club one day whose owners didn’t know what a dance club was. Like that scene from Super Troopers where the guy shows up to a ‘biker’ themed diner date in full bicycle spandex. And at this club they are not playing hip-hop, dance, or house. They are playing the Givers and other music that forces you to have a good time. And everyone has probably been to regular dance clubs before too – but like you, they are in the same accepting spirit. Every dance you see people doing has a good chance of being introduced to society for the first time.
I hope your day is filled with magic and wonder. -Frank

From what I can tell, the only place you can buy the album is on Bandcamp. They are doing a tricky little ‘pay what you want’ scheme, the minimum set at $5…for a five song EP. Oh well, worth it.
