A lady friend of mine took me to see Black Carl this past Friday night. I was pleasantly surprised at what I found. The lead, Emma Pew, has a voice to kill and the band is the anithesis of Pink Floyd in name only. Check out the tracks below and you shall not be displeased. We may have found something in the early stages of stardom with Ms. Pew. I spent most of the night trying to find something to compare her voice to, yet I came up empty. I concluded to acknowledge it as completely original and not try to find any current or past singers she sounded like. All I know is she can really belt it out. For all you Phoenicians out there, they are playing October 26th at Rhythm Room in Phoenix, AZ. The band doesn’t lack any soul and the venue is great. You can find their album Borrowed and their self titled EP on Itunes.

Maybe like an American version of Adele with a more American rock sound? Good stuff nonetheless.

I like it…she reminds me of a chill Florence from Florence + The Machine…

Frank, right on with the Adele comparison. Love these songs. Great voice. Right up my alley. This “lady friend” of yours may have earned a second round.

Yeah, mix Adele + soul + Sara Bareilles.
