A trusted source of good music, the very same person who introduced me to Bright Eyes so many years ago as we drove in her truck through a snow storm on the Western Slope of Colorado, told me today about Amiina. I Youtubed the group and found a live performance of their song “Seoul.” I was immediately impressed and ready to post about them, but decided to do a bit of research first. The more I learned about them, the more I was intrigued. Amiina is a group of extremely gifted, young Icelandic women who met while studying music in college. In 1999, Sigur Ros called them in search of a string quartet. They collaborated and recorded on the albums () and Takk. Now, they debut with their own brilliant sound. Look, I don’t know what’s going on in Iceland, but the music coming out of that place is insane and I love it.
