My situation has been in a flux lately so I have to apologize if this next selection is obvious to some readers. For reasons not that interesting, my magazine, TV, and internet use has been at an all time low, not by choice mind you. However, my spirits have been lifted thanks to the much anticipated release of The Virgin’s first full album. Their EP held me over for a short time because I can only listen to Love Is Colder Than Death 567 times, not 568. The Virgins were formed and currently reside in New York City and until probably this week have remained relatively incognito. Their album is perfectly timed with the awesome influx of indie tunes that provide a rockin’ dance beat (think Black Kids). The abovementioned song Colder Than Death has one of the sickest bass lines of the year. But wait… you can only find the version I am talking about on their former EP. For some reason they changed the song on their album. I put both versions below so you can see for yourself. Fernando Pando is another favorite track from the album and builds up to a sweet tune that only a current Woody Allen film could match. A lot of people have compared them to The Strokes, which isn’t an incorrect comparison, especially when listening to the song Radio Christiane. I have to drive mucho lately and thus I’m ecstatic about scooping up this self-titled album, almost as much as the Lakers/Celtics matchup. Thank Zeus neither the Spurs nor the Pistons are still playing. That should be reason enough to buy a new album this week.

P.S. Fleet Foxes released their debut album on Tuesday as well but I am too lazy to write an article about it. However, there is a song below you can check out. Papa’s got a brand new bag. Concordia Discors
