I don’t know if you can tell from the title of this post, but I am more than just a little excited for the upcoming release from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Karen O has already been entertaining me this year with her can’t-stop-listening-to-it hook on N.A.S.A.’s ‘Strange Enough‘, and now the New Jersey bred chanteuse, along with Nick Zinner and Brian Chase, is ready to unleash It’s Blitz! on the world on 3/24. From what I’ve heard, this record strays a little from 2006’s Show Your Bones, but don’t fret, it’s definitely change we can all believe in.  Gone are the some of the heavier more rambunctious guitar licks, only to be replaced by electro-pop generating synths that are guaranteed to get you out on the dancefloor at your local discotheque.  As the lovely Ms. O said in a recent issue of SPIN, “there’s no comparison to the feeling you get when you’re dancing like your life depends on it.”

Included below are two songs from It’s Blitz!, ‘Heads Will Roll’ and ‘Skeletons’. I must point out that I am deeply obsessed with song ‘Skeletons’ at the moment - there’s just something about the combo of that voice and the slow ethereal music that gets to me every time I hear it. I also thought this would be the perfect opportunity to show some love to ‘Phenomena’, easily my favorite song from Show Your Bones. In fact, if I could have entrance music for every time I stepped into a room I think I would pick the hook from this song. But enough about what I do in my free time with my portable speakers, go get your jam jam jams on:

Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Heads Will Roll

Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Skeletons

Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Phenomena

It’s Blitz! is out via Interscope on 3/24 and will be available everywhere good music is sold.
