The name of the band is Gossip.  You will probably like them if you’re into The Ting Tings, Metric, and maybe the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.  They make that kind of kick you in the face with woman power thumping rock.  I think this is as close as you’re going to get to knowing what it was like when Joan Jett first came on the scene and had men everywhere thinking, “Damn! That sounds like the kinda chick that could kick my ass.”  And I know some of you are looking at the picture to the right and thinking that maybe you would get your ass kicked by Gossip.

I’ve never been beat up by a girl.

Sure, I’ve been swung at a few times (who hasn’t?).  But I’m pretty quick and am able to duck out of the way.  And maybe one time I wasn’t so quick.  But one punch does not equal an ass kicking.  I’m not saying that it happened to me, but if it did what could I do right?  She was a girl.  And I don’t hit girls (part of the rules).

Well, maybe one time I punched hit a girl.  But I was simply stepping back from the bar, my hands were full of drinks and she caught an elbow.  That’s pretty much her fault.  And if I didn’t help her up it was because, like I said, I had an armful of drinks.

None of this is true.  This is what us writers call ‘story making-up’.

But speaking of Gossip, they have been around since 1999 and just released their third album.  And it looks like with the help of the song Heavy Cross and a solid album, that this one will be the charm.
