It was a gloomy day in San Diego, California. Consequently, I relied on the help of some upbeat British rock to get me through the day. I knew that my only two religious (avid) readers (my sis and friend Saulo) might need some musical sunshine to counter the dreariness as well. Hence, I give you Good Shoes. I stumbled upon this London based band in 2006 on a favorite site of mine that I use to find new music from the UK - Artrocker.com. After doing my homework, I read reviews comparing the band to a favorite Brit-band of mine, The Maccabees. I was eager to hear them, but I was going to have to wait for their first full-length album until March of 2007, entitled Think Before You Speak. Well, I am truly glad that I kept this band on my radar because this album is solid. If you like the tight-knit chord progressions of the British Indie scene with more of a Albert Hammond Jr. vs. Julian Casablancas Strokes feel to the songs, than you will dig Good Shoes. Their lyrics are clever, their music videos are entertaining and they play shows with the Kaiser Chiefs which gives them points in my book. You probably won’t see them galloping around stages in the states just yet, but I am pretty confident that time is not too far away.

On another note, kudos to the Muffin for preaching about the new Radiohead album, its a keeper. As always, music is best listened to loudly, so turn up the volume and enjoy. I won’t tell anyone if you want to dance around the room a bit as well.
