Friendly Fires

I want to live in Paris

Friendly Fires, the most buzzed about band in this year’s CMJ festival in New York City, makes me want to move to Paris more than ever. Their indie pop, electronica sound makes you want to dance, jump for joy and then buy a ticket to Paris.

I recently caught a live in studio session with the band (as seen below) on my favorite Internet radio show “KCRW’s Morning Becomes Eclectic” hosted by Nic Harcourt (www.kcrw.com) and had to share it. Their live in studio was upbeat and sounded very similar to their album (which is always a good thing in my book being that their album was recorded in their St. Albans, Hertfordshire, UK garage).

The band met in high school and have been playing ever since. Their reason for starting a band, “we lived in an uneventful town 20 miles outside of London and wanted to occupy our time.” Ten years in the making, they’re now occupying mine.
