Straight into the Muffin bakery is none other than Filligar. We’ve got Johnny, Casey, Teddy and Pete – and they have agreed to be completely candid about the deepest darkest secrets of their lives. I would also recommend listening to songs at the end of the post while you read the interview – it makes for a swell time.
Before you check out the interview you can find out more about the band at their Wiki page. And if you are currently attending college or live near a campus, Filligar is probably playing a show near you, which you can find out about on the Filligar MySpace page. And if you collect Facebook friends like Sydney C collects pogs, you can hit up the guys on Facebook!
Frank: We hear you have a lot of great shows planned this Spring, mainly at colleges across the US, while at the same time three of you plan to graduate from college yourselves this Spring. First, where do you guys go to school? And second, do you honestly think you’re going to graduate?
Teddy: Pete, Johnny and I go to Dartmouth in New Hampshire and Casey attends Hamilton in upstate New York. Yeah, about graduation… we’re playing shows and parties at other colleges almost every weekend this spring, so hopefully we don’t have too good a time and forget about getting that diploma.
Train: What’s the rowdiest college you’ve been to on tour?
Casey: Hamilton and Dartmouth- because of home court advantage. But we’ve had pretty wild times at Colby and Middlebury.
Frank: What is the rowdiest you’ve ever gotten in college?
Casey: If I can dig up that Hanover Police cruiser tape from 2007, I’ll be sure to send it to you.
Train: I know you guys are from Chicago, but seeing as though you all go to school on the east coast, what’s better – Chi-town deep dish or a NYC slice of pizza?
Johnny: Chicago deep dish. Giordano’s.
Foote: What is the favorite alcoholic beverage of the band?
Filligar: Quantity over quality. Keystone light.
Frank: Pete, why simply Pete – are you the mature one of the group or something?
Pete: If I followed the Teddy, Johnny, and Casey trend it would Petey. Petey? No.
Train: What are the top 3 most played songs on your ipod/itunes?
Casey -
“Don’t Think Twice, It’s Alright” by Bob Dylan
“My Girls” by Animal Collective
“Lay Low” by My Morning Jacket (Okonokos version)
Teddy -
“Theologians” by Wilco
“Burning Down The House” by Talking Heads
“Electric Feel” by MGMT
Johnny -
“Helpless” from The Last Waltz by Neil Young
“Thunderstruck” by AC/DC
“Sympathy for the Devil” by The Rolling Stones
Pete -
“Spiders” by Wilco
“May” by So Percussion
“Heart of Gold” by Neil Young
Frank: So after graduation (if we even believe that), we assume it is time to put on a shirt and tie and find a nice cubicle to relax in? Or are there other things planned for Filligar?
Filligar: Not me, not never. We’re going to keep playing music as long as we can. We’re working on a tour schedule for the summer, fall and winter of ’09 as we speak.
Frank: Who handles your online presence (their Wiki page rivals Greenday)?
Teddy: It’s a collective effort.
Train: What is your favorite kind of Muffin (besides the Audio kind)?
Johnny: Deep dish muffin.
