Ladies and gentleman, we now have access to the cover of the much anticipated Grizzly Bear album Veckatimest, the deeply desired follow up to Yellow House. Believe me, every little revelation leading up to this album release is welcomed. Although I’ll admit, I am not sure on the pronunciation of the album title, it is named after a small island off the coast of Massachusetts which remains uninhabited.

Though no albums were released by the band in 2008, it was anything but a lifeless year. They put on some epic shows with the LA Philharmonic and some ace performances at the Brooklyn Academy of Music. Oh, and a little band called Radiohead selected them as their opening act.

Despite their accomplished year, May 26th cannot seem to come soon enough. And though my impatience becomes increasingly transparent in this post, I have to be thankful that Daniel Rossen, guitarist and song-writer of Grizzly Bear, graced the musical world with his side-project album from his band, Department of Eagles, which, by the way, was one of my top five from 2008.

As others have said before me and surely more will re-iterate, this is going to be one of the best albums of the coming year, so please mark the date 5/26/09 for this release. I hope that everyone enjoyed their President’s Day – I am off to a Hello Sunshine show, but will leave you with this video that gives a taste of whats to come.
