I already know what you are going to say. But first, before you say anything, please do me a favor; scroll down a little bit on the website and click on the link that has a handsome photo and the name Frank on it. Now once you are on the page that has all the blog posts that I have written, take some time and go through each one and listen to the music at the bottom. Take your time, I’ll be waiting back here at this page…
…finished? Great! Now that I have some mother fuckin’ credibility let me tell you about this great band called Panic at the Disco. I know what your first instinct might be; disgust. And I fully understand, they got way too much hype before their debut album even dropped and then the media fed them to the screaming throngs of teenagers and they just ate it up. What are you supposed to think with your sophisticated musical pallette and indie tendencies?
I’ll admit, I wasn’t too fond of them when they first came out, but I had to give it a chance, they must have had a song that was just too damn catchy, and I gave in. And then the debut album, A Fever You Can’t Sweat OutA Fever You Can’t Sweat Out, took over my life. For a month or so after I graduated college it was all I listened to. But I still understand if you want to hate, but let me show you something a little bit different…
It’s called Pretty. Odd.Pretty. Odd. and it is the latest album from the group. Okay, so the best thing I can tell you in my attempt to get you to listen to the following songs is thus; all the kids that loved the first album HATE this album. So if you ever wanted to go against the musical grain, now is your chance. Sure, Jessica Alba is lip syncing to Nine in the Afternoon on youtube, but see if anyone has noticed that guitarist Ryan Ross picks up the mic on some of the albums deeper songs.
So let’s cut to the songs and just show you why this band is worth a listen. The first song is slow, starts out acoustic, and is simply a great song. The second song showcases Ryan Ross and may even trick you into thinking you are listening to a different band.
