Wes Miles, frontman for Ra Ra Riot and Rostam Batmanglij, keys specialist for Vampire Weekend have teamed up in collabo-side-project fashion to bring us a series of jams just in time for the summer. The two New York musicians, who were coincidentally members of two of 2008’s hottest bands, will be releasing their first LP officially on July 7th in the US. The self-titled album will be released on XL Recordings (Vampire Weekend’s label). The album is suited for summer fun with contagious synth beats, re-mixed samples and a myriad of piano jams. Here is Discovery.

One of the hardest bands to Google in recent history…but worth putting in the effort. Has to be in the running for summer album of ‘09.

    two words: postal service.

but not like that is a bad thing. :)

Laura, did you mean to say that on the Faded Paper Figures article? I think the correct analogy for Discovery is “Passion Pit”. Might even let you get away with “MGMT”, but I don’t know about PS.

But Foote, I am forever in your debt for finding this band. And for those of you reading this, you need to get the whole album, There is another song called “So Insane” that blew my mind, as well as a Jackson 5 cover which is nuts! Thanks Foote!

“I Want You Back” is the illest song of the summer. Such a ridiculous sample. I’m heading to their album release party on Tuesday. I can’t wait.
