Culture Collide Festival

Well this is some really exciting news.  Los Angeles is getting a club-hopping style international music festival?  That’s right!  And they are calling it Culture Collide Festival – just to enforce the international part and harness the theme of the event.

The theme is for each showcase to pair a US band with two bands from a foreign land.  And like I said, it is going to be similar to SXSW in that the festival will be spread out amongst a handful of venues, which makes Echo Park the perfect place to host it.  You’ll be able to see most of the shows at Spaceland, the Echo, and Echoplex.

There is also going to be a kick off party at The Standard downtown (they are also reserving a bunch of rooms for this event, so it might just be epic) as well as a closing ceremony (block party)  somewhere in LA.

The cost of the whole event is $20.  Yeah, twenty fuckin’ dollars!  This isn’t Coachella where you have to start mowing lawns in your neighborhood three months in advance, you can pan-handle $20 in three hours on the promenade.

The event is being put on by FILTER Magazine, so you better believe the westcoast Muffin crew is gonna be all up in that shit.

So mark your calendars for October 7th-10th.  Yeah, it is awhile away, but we’ll keep you informed (especially when they start selling bracelets).  In the meantime, here is a list of the bands playing (and this is probably gonna get longer):

Black Lips, Klaxons, Phantogram, Monotonix, The Besnard Lakes, Casiokids, Sea Wolf, The Boxer Rebellion, Land of Talk, Suuns Voxhaul Broadcast, We Barbarians, Gold Lake, Pink Noise, KAMP, Hello Saferide, Glaciers, Amusement Parks on Fire, The Outline,  AM, and Two Sheds.

Man, I’ve been wanting to post some Casiokids on the Muffin for like two years.  They are so good, and LA will be glad to have them for a weekend.
