Crystal Castles is a turbulent electronic duo combining producer/musician Ethan Kath and misfit vocalist Alice Glass aka Vicki Vale. Known not only for their unique vocal and electro-sounds, Glass also brings a history of rebellion to the mix. It seems getting shut down during live shows, walking out on interviews and at times expressing an utter disregard for “standard procedure” completely compliments CC’s style and makes their chaotic music even that much more amazing. Their first release was a self-titled LP in 2008 and definitely had a few gems. Gaining exposure through monumental shows on the NME Tour in the UK, Mojave tent at Coachella and Bonnaroo in 2009, Crystal Castles has added a redefining sound to the bullish electro-pop genre.

Crystal Castles has now come through with a sophomore album, Crystal Castles II, which was released on April 23rd. Striking absolutely no arguments from fans and critics alike, the album surprised people as it was born a month or so premature to its initial June due date. The album has a more complete feel to it from start to end and songs like “Celestica” make this album a big step forward for the terrible two-some (and I say that in an endearing manner). This is definitely one of the better albums I have heard so far this year and I am looking forward to the bands return to the US on tour later this Summer.

Download the album HERE on iTunes. Crystal Castles on Audio Muffin, best enjoyed at high volumes.
