It’s been nearly two weeks since the Memorial Day release of one of this year’s most fire mixtapes, The Cool Kids’ “Tacklebox.”  I wanted to wait to post on this until I had a chance to let the music sufficiently wash over me.  Well, seven workouts, twenty car rides, and one unproductive night at work later, I can safely claim to have done so-and I am happy to report I came out a better man for it.

“Tacklebox” is all of the slow, Windy City, Air Jordan, beach cookout, trunk funk we have all come to expect from Chuck and Mikey.  The thing that stuns me is how they continue to keep doing it better each time.

Did I mention the “Tacklebox” mixtape is another FREE download on their website?  Yeah, all they ask is that you don’t listen to it on laptop speakers.  It’s a shame they even have to ask.

Oh, and shoutout to the Los Angeles Leakers for flawlessly mixing the joint.

This tape is super-hot.  Guaranteed like a jail phone call.

Get some.

The Cool Kids are currently sorting out some legal issues with their label, but as soon as that gets cleared up their new official album “When Fish Ride Bicycles” is supposed to be landing (Fellas, can Audio Muffin get a leak?).  Whenever that happens I might just commandeer The Muffin every day for three months and count down the release date.  So, be ready for that.
