Short and sweet today my Muffin friends. Okay, well kinda short.
So a couple of days ago my bro bro sent me a ‘you-gotta-check-out-this-band’ email, and being the good brother that I am I heeded the call and fortuitously made the best decision I’d made all week. The band is called Cults, and I encourage you to join me in joining them (I know my boy Sydney C is in)…
Now, the reason for today’s brevity is not lack of effort or time, but simply lack of information. Cults have a bandcamp page that reveals that they are a duo from NYC….and that’s about it. No Twitter, no Myspace, no Wiki page, no real website to speak of – nada. It’s actually kind of refreshing to find a band that, in this age of instant info overload, seemingly doesn’t want to be found. Plus, there’s nothing like an old fashioned bit of mystery to get the streets a-buzzin.
Cults have a three song 7″ out which can be downloaded for free at their bandcamp page. I’d describe the music as sunny yet hazy, washed out beach music, and given that winter has now seemingly bid adieu to the City of New York (and hopefully the rest of the country), it’s definitely the right time for Cults to cozy on up to your playlist. Two tracks below – I’ll let you mozy on over to Cults’ corner of the internet to grab the third song from the 7″. So let the jams wash over you, and soak in the sounds of a band we’re sure to hear more from in the not too distant future. Cults: Train Tested. Muffin Approved.
