CocoRosie is good love making music if you picked your date up at a Gypsy camp. But then again, you’re pretty much guaranteed you’ll never see her again. And at least the music is pleasant.

Their last album came out in 07 and was creepily titled The Adventures of Ghosthorse and Stillborn. The group consists of two sisters who have lived a very colorful life that is expressed through their music. I often find myself enchanted by really great music and wonder how someone could have thought up something so unique, and yet amazing. Then I stumble upon their life stories on Wiki and realize my typical suburban upbringing isn’t going to help me make cutting edge music.

According to the groups label their next album isn’t scheduled for release until 2009, yet they decided to release a single this week. What exactly are they promoting? I guess they are doing some pretty extensive touring in 08, but I don’t like to be teased.

CocoRosie makes some amazing music. Their albums are all very unique and mesmerizing. But I think you’ll agree that their latest song is the best work they have done. I imagine this would be the sound that would be created if Dntel teamed up with one of the great artists coming out of Iceland (aka anything that D Rock puts on his myspace page).

I didn’t post the mp3 for the new single, because it is hard to justify how that is helping to encourage people to buy their new release. But you can download it for a buck on their labels website.

I also posted a couple of songs from their latest album. The first song could have made nugget’s latest post. And the second song starts out with an eerie sound clip saying, “…my soul was filled with crystal light…” And then as your laughing at the lady talking about her soul filled with Crystal Light CocoRosie starts singing and throws in a “…yeah I suck dick.” It is that kind ‘no way did she just say that’ moment that makes me love CocoRosie even more.
