If you live in the Southern California area you may understand the title of this post immediately. For those of you that don’t live in Los Angeles, we lost our Indie Rock station this weekend.

Talking to some friends, everyone had a similar experience - you found yourself driving in the car, turned on the radio, and instead of hearing some great tunes or Steve Jones rambling about nothing, you heard salsa music.  Not to put down salsa music, but it pretty much sucks.

Indie 103.1 had been around for about 5 years, and besides a few hours a day when NPR played Morning Becomes Eclectic, it was the only station worth listening to.  Many of us SoCal natives had grown up on KROQ - but good lord has that station taken a nose dive in recent years.

And if you are one of those people who grew up around LA, you probably had a feeling of Deja Vu - afterall, I remember in high school when we lost Modern Rock Y107 at the beginning of December.  That station also went spanish and played a looped Felice Navidad for a whole fuckin month - I kid you not, it was ridiculous.

There are some people who are trying to take the station online - but the selection isn’t the same and I’ve heard mixed reviews.  You can also find out exactly what happened in an interview on The Daily Swarm.  And hear more peoples reactions to the news on Twitter.

Well, I guess it is time to go rip the antennae off my car and buy a couple more CD-R spindles.  Oh, and I think Okkervil River is the best choice to explain how we all feel in LA right now.
