Thanks for stopping by the bakery – how ’bout some Danish? Get it? Like, a Danish is a popular breakfast item you might find in a non-musical bakery and the band, Choir of Young Believers, happens to be from Denmark.

For the life of me, I can’t remember how I came across this band, but you’ll be happy I did.  Their sound is full of flowing melodies reminiscent of Radiohead or anything you might find in Iceland.  The instruments are for the most part subtle and delicately advance the motion of the singing.

Their latest record, This Is for the White in Your Eyes, is epic.  And it is epic in the way you could hear it as the soundtrack of an army marching into battle.  But this is a battle that they definitely don’t expect to win.  At the same time, their is an upbeat tone in what you are hearing.  The name, The Choir of Young Believers, in this respect, fits them perfectly.

But aside from the general tone of the album, there are a couple tracks that really stand-out on their own and break from the dreary mood heard in much of the Choir.  These are some definite picks for some mix tapes that will have your friends asking, who is THIIIISSS?

The lyrics are really the best part of this album.  So after you have enjoyed Action/Reaction for awhile; take a good hard listen to Claustrophobia.  Nice, eh?
