Broken Bells

Do you remember when you first learned of the Shins? Ooh.. I do. Oh Inverted World was a lucky grab at the record store and from top to bottom, that album tripped me out. It remained in the car stereo for the better part of a year. You might also remember “Caring is Creepy” as the essential indie choice that Natalie Portman’s character made in the days of Garden State.

While I would be totally excited if The Shins popped another album on the shelf – I’m MUCH MORE excited to see that instead frontman James Mercer has collabed with DangerMouse…. (who has a sick sick roster of projects he’s produced- the acclaimed Grey Album, Gorillaz, Gnarls Barkely, Beck…etc.)

The High Road has been heavily rotating – and the familiar wafty melodies, paired with the little electro-funk intro is just right soundtrack for my personal evolution of music appreciation.

So Whatev. Here.

That synth line at the beginning and during the hook is one of the craziest things I’ve heard in a long time. It’s crazy to see how far Danger Mouse has come.
