Morrison, ColoradoThe Monolith Music Festival was this past weekend at arguably one of the top two outdoor amphitheatres in the country, (along with The Gorge in Washington) Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado. Monolith featured some of 2009′s hottest acts sharing stage with talented up and coming bands from Colorado amidst the stunning back drop of the western slope and its massive boulders. Among those local acts talented enough to share the stage with the likes of Phoenix and Passion Pit was good friends of Audio Muffin, The Knew.

Standout performances of the weekend, as reported by our ever personable and stunning Audio Muffin Street Team, were those of Passion Pit, Savoy and The Glitch Mob. Passion Pit worked the crowd with several hits off their ’09 release, Manners and kept them dancing with jams from their EP, Chunk of Change, like ‘Sleepy Head’.

A pair of DJ Trios, local Boulder, CO act Savoy and world renowned DJs, The Glitch Mob, spun the Colorado crowd into a frenzy. The Glitch Mob bumped the main stage and from the first track had its large following dancing and jumping to the beat.

This festival has really developed as it encompasses such a diverse range of musical genres. Acts like Redman ad Method Man were rhyming on one stage while Phoenix, Mars Volta or M Ward were jamming out on another. With the eclectic line-up came some very eccentric festival goers.

Leave it to our Muffin Girls to find the action (although usually the action finds them). While rubbing shoulders with the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Walkmen, The Pains of Being Pure at Heart, Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros and We Were Promised Jetpacks (to name a few) they still found time to enjoy some tasty beverages and logged some serious dance time. Keep an eye out for our Muffin Girls at your next festival or show because you never know where we are going to send them.

Nice work Muffin girls! Sounded like an awesome time, and that Glitch Mob song was a nice slap in the face on a Friday morning.

I don’t know what I dig more, the Muffin shirts, that kid’s hairstyle or the TVOTR remix…

Great post – especially the Glitch Mob stuff. (And minor point, the Gorge is actually in beautifully named George, Washington…and a fantastic venue)
