A Band of Horses - notably Ben Bridwell gets the gore and glore for a newsworthy outburst at a show from which he criticizes the crowd for I don’t know - not giving a shit about the music I guess, or playing “too cool shoe-gazer shit” until all of a sudden he’s perking some interest with his sound - and next thing you know the crowd is swaying around behind their cell phone recorders. And I guess he went off in an interview about the lack of support he was feeling until they started getting into it and are recording it for their own gain - for their blogs or for their youtube accounts or whatever.

And when I think about it - media is totally weird now. Maybe its a pompous attitude that he was displaying - I don’t want to judge. Maybe I side with him. The internet has made communication so flat and easy and rampant that people don’t have to really communicate live. If I don’t have to be vulnerable and just like this band unabashedly in front of all of these other judgemental assholes then why should I? I can just whip out my cellphone and save it for later - save it for the community that will seek me out and affirm my tastes and validate me online.

I’m at the wedding time of my life - two in a row. So I just listen to A Band of Horses - Marry Song over and over every day and love and long! This new album is something that you should have. Recorded in Asheville, NC and having gone a little bit country compared to the previous - you won’t regret checking out these songs.
