2009 has come to a close and we all have had some time to carefully consider our New Year’s resolutions for 2010. I learned long ago to first evaluate the feasibility of actually accomplishing these self-improvements before proclaiming them as resolutions, because what good is a laundry list of unachievables? Several of my personal resolutions for this coming year will remain privy, however, one rings of relevance to the Bakery – gaining increased insight into world music.
Obviously, it is easy to have my ears to the ground as to what is happening music wise here in the states, but there is so much talent in the world music genre, I cannot help but want to split my time.
Whilst sipping the standard – Grande Columbian coffee courtesy of my local barista, I was fortunate enough to catch the relaxing sounds of José González. I have definitely heard Josés jams on KCRW before, but had not really done my due dilligence (and this little reminder was all I needed).
José comes to the Bakery via his home of Sweden, but was born there of Chilean parents. Recognized by his ace talent on the classical guitar and his soothing vocals, José has been making music since the early 90′s in some fashion. His most recent full length release, In Our Nature (2007), received great acclaim and for good cause. More recently, he contributed his talents along with The Books on the Dark Was The Night Compilation (#2 – Cello Song).
Without further ado, this week’s worldly musician - José González.

This comment is a little late, and these songs are a little old, but nice recognition of the chillest music I’ve heard. If you have time, and you appreciate Jose, check out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ALSzur-uSFs , you will be buh-lown away
