Hear the songs I’m loving sequentially – a perfect soundtrack to a quiet evening spent thinking.
Sometimes you need lyrics to help you explore your quest for contentedness. Its an experience that calls for sad music. I promise, it makes you feel better to pretend that every song that you love at this moment was written right to your soul in response to what you are dealing with in your head and in your heart.

Vampire Weekend – I think you’re a Contra

I listened to this song on repeat like fiftyleven times on a contemplative walk with the crashing waves of Venice Beach. I’ve never wanted more to grab someone and sit them down so we could tell each other everything for two months. Though I think I actually AM a Contra. So I let this song tell me what is what – over and over.

Lissie – Everywhere I go

Tell me what I have to do to break free or die. This song is a plea to take me to a place that is home, (and she’s not talking about her house, or my shitty apartment in Culver City). We’re kinda passionately begging, as I sing along, for death to fix everything. The danger is too great, or maybe….. unless you can help. Its tragic, I know.

Miike Snow – Faker

This song makes me feel like I’m on the saddest carousel ride ever. Its going round and round and up and down in slow motion. My hand is outstretched reaching for something that isn’t there because I’m a MFing Faker. Do you feel me?

Local Natives – Who Knows, Who Cares

Wait a minute!! Let’s take a stab at not letting me get too worked up in my head searching for answers to questions when the answer is “Who knows”? And besides, change is my favorite thing, so let the river have me – “Who cares”.

First Aid Kit – Heavy Storm

I can be in love with my new life and bliss out over every new day that awaits me and at the exact same time and with equal and opposite passion, I can feel nostalgic for a time past. Also, I left my brother in North Carolina and I miss him so and I wish so much for his happiness and for the calm after the Heavy Storm that will take him away.

Rural Alberta Advantage – In the Summertime – LIVE & Acoustic

I would eat these words right out of his singing mouth if it would help to prove how much I love them
And When we’re Middle Aged, you tell me I loved you like a renegade, and how I say the things that make you quake. I mostly told you you did the same.

The Temper Trap – Sweet Disposition

This is almost a guilty addition to the playlist. The visualization of 500 Days of Summer is impossible to ignore, and unfortunately, so is the number of times that I’ve listened to this song. So I can’t deny its presence here.

Frightened Rabbits – Poke

Um… Holy Shit.
